Celebrate the End of Summer with a classic movie and Ruby
Want to do something fun on Thursday night? Catch the special screening of an “Endless Summer” at the Pier Plaza. A custom-made longboard and skateboard will be given away and Ruby’s Diner will host an end of summer cookout! Ruby’s burgers and soda will be sold for $5 to raise funds for a good cause – Childhelp.
According to the press release:
“Endless Summer” is an iconic surf documentary by Bruce Brown about two young surfers, Robert August and Mike Hynson who travel the world in search of the perfect wave. Ruby’s Diner will serve fresh grilled RubyBurgers and soda for $5 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. 100% of proceeds from food sales will benefit Childhelp, a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect. The movie screening starts at 7:30 p.m. and guests can enjoy an outdoor movie screening at the beach, under the open sky with crashing waves in the background. Bring chairs, pillows and a warm blanket. Bruce Brown, Robert August, star of “Endless Summer 2,” Robert “Wingnut” Weaver, and Ruby Cavanaugh (the Ruby that Ruby’s Diner was named for) will be signing autographs from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
In addition, Ruby’s Diner is currently offering an Endless Summer Sweepstakes at all California and Hawaii locations. The Grand Prize winner will receive a custom-made Endless Summer Longboard signed by Bruce Brown and Robert August. Multiple winners will receive a special edition 39-inch Endless Summer Skateboards signed by Bruce Brown. Contest is available only at California and Hawaii locations.
