2013 Vans US Open of Surfing Hits Huntington Beach this Weekend

The biggest Huntington Beach event starts tomorrow! The 2013 Vans US Open of Surfing will run from July 20 to July 28 with all events free and open to the public.  Can’t make it to Surf City? Catch the live webcast via the US Open app starting July 22 and online at www.vansusopenofsurfing.com The Vans US Open of Surfing is known as the largest youth culture and action sports festival.

The Vans US Open of Surfing features the best in surfing – including our very own two-time event champion Brett Simpson, Dane Reynolds, 11-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater, defending 2012 event champion Julian Wilson, Jordy Smith, defending 2012 women’s champion Lakey Peterson, Tyler Wright, and Courtney Conlogue. The Vans US Open is a pivotal point on the ASP World Tour for both men and women – for the men, a win will earn them valuable points towards qualification for the ASP Top 34; for the women, the event marks marks the 2nd to the last stop on the Women’s World Championship Tour (WCT). Alongside the ASP World Tour stop, Vans will also host the ASP Pro Juniors for men and women.
Also taking place during the Vans US Open is the inaugural Van Doren Invitational bowl jam, a premier BMX competition on July 26th and 27th.

One of the most anticipated events during the US Open of Surfing are the free concerts on the beach at the House of Vans Stage, on Friday, July 25th and Saturday, July 26th. This year’s line-up includes Modest Mouse, The Faint, Twin Shadow, Huntington Beach native Matt Costa and emerging artist FMLYBND.
