Celebrate Halloween With Bugs at Pretend City Children’s Museum

One of the cool things about being a Surf City Family is that there are many other family friendly activities around us in Orange County. Take Pretend City – the Children’s Museum in Irvine! The place is perfect for kids 5 and below.

This month Pretend City Children’s Museum introduces its new interactive scavenger-haunt exhibit with eight dazzling and busy bug filled areas that engage children in discovering and learning about various insects and bugs. Each experience includes a collection of take-home trading cards for the learning to continue at home.  Recently, we sent over our correspondent Cristina Peczon-Rodriguez and her boys, Aiden and Luke for some bug-filled fun. Here are words and pictures from their Bug Bog experience.

Dr. Strangebug gives the kids an engaging and interesting introduction before handing them their buckets on a hunt to find 9 different bugs from 8 habitats.

Small groups of children are allowed to go through the scavenger hunt and are allowed to take as much time as they need to find their bugs.

Learning about bugs in their habitats has never been so fun for the very little ones ( or squeamish ones). It also saves Mommies from having to pick up bugs that one would find in real life since they can do it all on their own here!

Last stop, a peek at some REAL bugs brought in by Pretend City– the children get to exchange their bug collection for fun and informative trading cards that they can take home!”

The Bug Bog Scavenger Hunt runs till October 31st.  Visit pretendcity.org for more information.
