Noon Year’s Eve Celebration at Discovery Science Center
One of the family-friendliest and funnest venues in Orange County, CA has to be the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana. I know it’s not in Surf City but it’s really just a short drive. When my kids were younger and couldn’t stay up late for New Year’s festivities, the Cube was our go-to destination because they do a Noon Year Countdown. That’s right, you can celebrate the coming of 2014 with a countdown AND balloon drop at 12:00 noon instead of midnight, at the Discovery Science Center.

Here are the details straight from the Cube:
WHAT:
Ring in 2014 like a Hollywood Superhero at Discovery Science Center’s annual “Noon Year’s Eve” event! Visitors are welcomed to dress as their favorite superhero and countdown the New Year at noon instead of midnight with the whole family. This year, due to overwhelming demand, the popular event has been expanded to two days on December 30 and 31.
Activities include:
-Decorate party hats and horns to take home
-Participate in a superhero dance party and live stage show
-Take action photos in front of a superhero green screen
-Create and hear unbelievable sound effects on a Foley stage
