Earth Day Family Fun Run and Huntington Beach Beach Clean Up on April 27
The 3rd annual BDR Earth Day Family Fun Run and Beach Clean-Up will take place on Sunday, April 27,2014 at Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach. According to one of the organizers, Stephanie Mondino: “This event was started by my friend, Eileen Robertson, after her husband Brian was killed while piloting his plane just days before Christmas in 2011. After Brian’s death, Eileen founded the BDR Foundation and we organized the first BDR Fun Run that took place in April of 2012. The event was a great success and Eileen was able to donate the money we raised back into our community.”
Brian Robertson was the Chief Executive Officer at Amonix, Inc., a company specializing in the design and manufacture of utility-scale solar power systems, headquartered in Seal Beach, CA. Brian died in a plane crash on December 22, 2011. He was a successful entrepreneur, dedicated solar pioneer and incredible visionary. The BDR Earth Day Family Fun Run is a community service event celebrating Earth Day in addition to celebrating Brian’s legacy and impact on environmental science and technology. All proceeds from the BDR Fun Run will go to the Brian D. Robertson Foundation.
Stephanie adds: “The previous events have proved to be loads of fun, especially for the kids. Not only are we offering a 5k run along the Bolsa Chica beach trail, we will have a kids’ 1 mile run. All participants will receive a bib and finisher’s medal. After the run you are welcome to assist with the beach clean-up, visit some of the booths, or just relax on the beach.”
