Photographer Joe Katchka Captures Beautiful Moments
Joe Katchka has the ability to immortalize beauty on a still image. Sure there are beautiful images of a Huntington Beach sunset or an epic wave, and then you have #katchmoments,as Joe likes to call them. When asked about why he chooses to photograph nature and such, he replied: “First, it’s a gift from God and I’m thankful to share with others the beauty he has created. I was inspired by my dad who lost his vision with type 2 diabetes and always told me to enjoy the beautiful things around you. My vision is to Katch those moments.”
And how he has…
Joe is a professional photographer but sometimes uses his iPhone too. “My iPhone is great when I’m shooting my kids or go on a job site like a wedding rehearsal I take my iPhone and shoot different spots and check the lighting, shadows and how it changes throughout the day. This is crucial when you’re shooting a bride and groom the next day and you want to get the perfect shot.”
We asked Joe for advice for aspiring photographers. And here’s what he said: “My advice – if you love shooting with your iPhone, or (DSLR) camera, is keep shooting. But if you want to grow in your photography find mentors in this field. Understand you’re going to fail in the beginning and want to give up but I’m telling you this is part of the growing process. I have people tell me I get lucky with some of my photos. I just lol and think of all the countless hours of failing and failing and finally getting that one shot for the day. You have to love photography and stay teachable.”
