KIDS ARE WELCOME TO “SHAKE IT UP” AT RUBY’S DINER
Submit a recipe in the Create Your Own Shake Contest
Celebrate the fall during Shake Happy Hour while enjoying the new seasonal Nutter Butter Shake

IRVINE, CALIF. (September 1, 2010) – Calling all creative kids! Ruby’s Diner is hosting a Kid’s Shake Contest this fall to discover their newest shake flavor. The entrant with the most delicious, original and creatively named shake will have their creamy confection showcased on the menu at all participating Ruby’s Diner locations and a $500 cash prize.

Kids 12 and under can enter the contest, which runs from September 7 through October 31, 2010. Entry forms are available in-store or can be downloaded from www.rubys.com but must be either mailed to the Ruby’s Diner home office or turned in at a Ruby’s Diner restaurant.

Aspiring ice cream chefs are encouraged to create a fun, unique and delicious shake recipe along with an appropriate name for the creative creation. Don’t forget to garnish appropriately – cherries, cookie crumbles, candy pieces, orange pinwheels, etc.

The judging criteria will be based on taste, presentation, originality, ease of preparation and appropriateness of shake name. The panel of judges will be none other than the one and only Ruby Cavanaugh of Ruby’s Diner, Doug Cavanaugh, the CEO and Founder of Ruby’s Diner and the Ruby’s Research and Development Team. Judging will take place from November 1 through 15, 2010 and the winner will be announced on November 22, 2010.

The Grand Prize winner will have their shake featured at all participating Ruby’s Diner locations in the first quarter of 2011, in addition to a $500 cash prize. The Second Place winner will receive a free Ruby’s Kid’s Meal once a week for a year and the Third Place winner will receive a free Kids Shake once a week for a year.

And speaking of shakes, from September 7 through October 31, 2010, Ruby’s Diner is offering a Shake Happy Hour featuring their full-sized, hand-made, deluxe shakes and malts Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for only $2.99 at participating Ruby’s Diner locations in California and Washington, excluding Crystal Cove Shake Shack, Malibu Pier Shake Shack, LAX and sporting venues. Try one of the more than 20 flavors or the new seasonal flavor, the Nutter Butter Shake, topped with a real Nutter Butter cookie.
