My Huntington Beach – Author Chris Epting
Author Chris Epting writes a popular column for the Huntington Beach Independent. He has also written many books including “Huntington Beach, California” from the Images of America series, “Roadside Baseball” and “Hello, It’s Me – Dispatches from a Pop Culture Junkie.”
This week, Chris is our featured Surf City resident and he shares some of his local favorites.
Surf City Family (SCF): How long have you lived in Huntington Beach?
Chris Epting (CE): Since 1999 — I had taken a job in Newport Beach, and moving from LA, we didn’t want to head that far south to live.
SCF: What do you like best about living here?
CE: The people and the weather.
SCF: Name your favorite place to get breakfast?
CE: Jon’s Coffee Shop.

SCF: Favorite park/beach and why?
CE: Bolsa Chica Wetlands – the history and knowing how hard people fought to preserve it.
SCF: Do you have a secret/tip to give anyone who wants to visit/live in Huntington Beach? What is it?
CE: The bike path after the summer is heavenly – empty and quiet
