#FabFind: Monkey House Café
There’s a nice little café on Beach Blvd at Garfield. And it’s been there a few years now, but I am often surprised when I meet people who haven’t heard about it. It’s called the Monkey House Café and I have had many-a-meeting there. With its charming interiors (there’s an artificial tree right in the heart of it all!) delicious sandwiches and my favorite illy coffee, not to mention the tasty sweet treats, the Monkey House Café, provides a nice retreat in the jungle that is Huntington Beach.
On a recent visit, I took my own monkeys for a summer lunch date.
My older son, who loves breakfast all day, ordered a breakfast bagel with sausage, egg and cheese. We were delighted to find out that the bagel was from another favorite local Huntington Beach spot, Bagelmania.
My little monkey was all over the chicken noodle soup, served with a pretzel from (yes, you guessed it) another local Huntington Beach business, Brewbakers.
I had a Combo – ½ Roast Beef Sandwich and ½ House Salad – which was plenty! It even came with a half pretzel roll and a yummy fresh baked cookie. What a deal for $6.95.
There are many dessert options at Monkey House Café. The baked goods are all freshly made and heavenly, like the 7 Layer Bar and S’mores Bar. One of their latest additions is an ice cream bar serving Lappert’s psuper premium ice cream. Mouthwatering flavors include Hawaiian Sea Salt Caramel, Cookies and Cream, Kauai Pie, Rainbow Sorbet and more.
If you attended the 2014 Taste of Huntington Beach, you would’ve tasted Lappert’s Ice Cream at the Monkey House Café booth.
While you’re there, you can also browse the adjacent store featuring various items and art work at Monkey House. But that’s another fab find for you to discover!
