U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and Breitling Jet Team Set to Headline First Ever Southern California Beach-Front Air Show

(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) Jan. 25, 2016 – The Southern California skies will be rocked like never before as the inaugural Surf City USA Airshow  announces not one but two headlining jet teams. The United States Air Force Flight Demonstration Squadron – the Thunderbirds, and the Breitling Jet Team are scheduled to headline this premier event slated for October 22-23 over the Pacific Ocean in Huntington Beach – Surf City, USA.

The inaugural Surf City Airshow will be the only beachfront airshow on the West Coast, and the first airshow held in Huntington Beach, California in over twenty years.”We can’t wait to bring the sights and sounds of freedom to Huntington Beach,” said Michael McCabe, Airshow Director for Surf City USA Airshow. “This will be a thrilling display that will delight people of all ages.”

Huntington Beach locals will get a small preview of the Thunderbird squadron when one of the F-16 jets completes a fly-over on Friday, January 29th just before 10:00AM. Major Scott Petz, United States Thunderbird #8, Advanced Pilot/Narrator will be flying passes along the beach as a technical evaluation prior to meeting with airshow and city officials for preliminary planning of the October show.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds perform for people all around the world showcasing the pride, precision and professionalism of American Airmen. The hour-long demonstration features sharply choreographed routines that show F-16 Fighting Falcons wingtip to wingtip and give crowd a glimpse of the exacting skills and capabilities possessed by these accomplished fighter pilots.

The Breitling Jet Team is the largest professional civilian jet team in the world. With fast and powerful L-39 Albatross aircraft piloted by flying aces, this renowned aerobatic team illustrates the Breitling’s cherished values of performance, precision, aesthetic sophistication and innovation. The team will round out their two-year tour of the United States with a final U.S. performance at Huntington Beach’s Surf City Airshow.
