Bark City Doggy Daycare in Huntington Beach is Simply Pawesome!
Finding someone to watch our fur baby when we are away is always a challenge. Usually, we have a friend dog sit but when our friend couldn’t do it, we turned to Bark City, a cage-free dog daycare and boarding facility located next to the OC Humane Society, off of Newland St. at Pacific Coast Highway.
We were greeted by a friendly staff led by co-owner Brittany Berryman. Her brother Bryson is the founder of Bark City. According to him, “Bark City is much more than a dog daycare and boarding facility, it’s a hub for the canine-loving community in Orange County. Our mission is to create happier, healthier dogs by making meaningful connections among owners, dogs and the greater canine community.”
Bark City has over 5,000 square feet of turf and an in-ground splash pool! There are rooms with couches and doggie beds for the dogs to rest. Large and small dogs are kept separately throughout the facility. (Though if you tell them your dog wants to mix in with the other dogs, that can be arranged.)
Bark City is tastefully furnished with a clean and modern aesthetic and a beachy vibe. It’s set up almost like a human pre-school and day care. In fact, you can drop your dog off for play days. They even do birthday parties!
Before boarding our pup, he first had to pass a little test to see if he got along with the other dogs. We left him there for a few hours one afternoon for an evaluation. Our dog, who has never been away from our home, was a little shy at first, but eventually warmed up to the staff as well as the other dogs. Thank goodness! With his passing marks and his vaccinations, fecal exam and flea regimen up to date, he was ready for his first sleepover.
We dropped him off like parents dropping their kids off for the first time at school and left feeling sure that at Bark City they would give him great care and love him up.
When we picked up our dog after he spent two nights at Bark City, he looked like he had lots of fun and didn’t want to leave.
