Kerri Walsh Jennings’ p1440 – Beach Volleyball, Live Music Family Festival comes to Huntington Beach Nov 30 to Dec 2
The most decorated beach volleyball player of all time, Kerri Walsh Jennings concludes inaugural 2018 p1440 (platform1440) season with two beach volleyball tournaments, family-friendly entertainment, health & wellness activities, personal development experiences and more at Huntington State Beach on Friday, November 30 to Sunday, December 2. Marking the last event in 2018, p1440 Huntington Beach will feature two beach volleyball tournaments, the p1440 Beach Volleyball Top Guns Invitational—featuring 16 of the best players of each gender from around the world and the p1440 Beach Volleyball Young Guns Invitational—welcoming all talented athletes to participate in a 24-team main draw. In addition to watching beach volleyball throughout the weekend, the three-day event will feature family-friendly activities including balloon and caricature artists, inflatable slides and more; a health & wellness village with high-intensity interval training workouts, art of breath workshops, yoga, meditation sessions and healthy cooking demos; live podcasts with Impact Theory; adult and junior volleyball clinics; immersive art experiences; music from local DJs; gourmet food options and more.
“I can’t believe it’s already our last event of 2018! What the p1440 team has been able to accomplish this year has been truly incredible and I’m looking forward to ending our first year in the amazing Huntington Beach community, where I first fell in love with the sport and launched my career on the sand,” said Walsh Jennings. “We are doing something extremely special for our last event. We are hosting two tournaments at the same time—the Young Guns Invitational is primarily focused on giving the ‘younger’ players a very high-level opportunity to compete. The Top Guns Invitational will be a 16 person draw. There will be three rounds of pool play and a final match that will crown the champion. This format is super exciting! It’ll be fun to see the different match ups and to see which players rise to the challenge of playing with multiple partners and personalities!”
The Young Guns Invitational will feature a men’s and women’s 24-team main draw with modified pool play. The top two teams from each pool and the top four third-place teams will advance into a 16-team single elimination bracket. The Top Guns Invitational invites 16 of some of the best men’s and women’s players from around the world to play as individuals in this unique tournament format. Athletes will team up with a variety of different players throughout the tournament—playing with athletes who are traditionally opponents and getting the chance to battle against their own partner. The first three rounds will be pool play, with partners being selected at random and each match consisting of only one game to 28. The first and second place winners from round three of pool play will select his and her partner to take to the finals from the remaining 14 tournament players—ultimately determining who is the best of the best that weekend. The finals will consist of traditional match play—the first team to win two sets will be crowned the Top Guns Invitational champion.
“I’m also so proud and excited about all the lifestyle and health & wellness experiences we’ve set up for our attendees of all ages and families to enjoy. Our health & wellness village is packed with inspiration and experts in the wellness field and we have special guests nearly every day sharing their stories with us, including Hurley International founder, Bob Hurley; UFC star, Michelle Waterson and three-time WWE champion, Eve Torres Gracie. We want everyone to leave our events feeling inspired and fueled with new knowledge that they’ve gained from their weekend with us,” said Walsh Jennings.
