Huntington Beach Pier Snowflake Lighting Ceremony “Light a Light of Love” Celebration

Snowflakes on Huntington Beach Pier

The Annual Huntington Beach Pier Snowflake Lighting Ceremony and Main Street Holiday Parade benefits at-risk youth as part of the “Light a Light Love” Celebration will take place on Sunday, December 3rd at 3:30 pm.  The snowflake lighting ceremony will be at 6 pm. The event benefits Wayfinders’ (Formerly Community Service Programs/CSP) Huntington Beach Youth Shelter and Emergency Crisis and Intervention Programs for Youth Ages 11 to 17.

Wayfinders, formerly Community Service Programs, a nonprofit that provides counseling and support services to struggling OC children and families at their greatest time of need, and its Huntington Beach Youth Shelter work in partnership with the City of Huntington Beach to host the event. The festivities, including a children’s holiday parade, will take place along Main Street in Huntington Beach and at Huntington Beach Pier Plaza. The main event highlight is a beautiful lighting ceremony of more than 83 giant snowflakes throughout Main Street and the pier. An opportunity for children to have their picture taken with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at Pier Plaza following the children’s parade will also be available. Plus, throughout the celebration performances from local organizations and high school groups will be held on stage at Pier Plaza.

WHEN: Sunday, December 3, 2017, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – Pier Plaza Entertainment
Entertainment will include musical acts from local organizations and high school groups, performing family and seasonal favorites. Highlights will include the Marina High School Band and the Huntington Beach High School cheerleaders.

·4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. – Children’s Holiday Parade
To be led down Main Street from Orange Avenue to Pier Plaza by event grand marshals Hometown Major Leaguers Nick Pratto- Kansas City Royals, and Hagen Danner- Toronto Blue Jays, the holiday parade will bring together local community children groups, high school marching bands and youth organizations including St. Simon & Jude Dolphinettes, City of Huntington Beach Junior Lifeguards, Hudson Dance Academy and others. The parade will also feature woodie cars, therapy dogs, Miss Huntington Beach and her court, and Surf City Santa and Mrs. Claus on a fire truck.

5:00 p.m. – Surf City Santa Meet and Greet
Immediately following the parade, Surf City Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will meet and take pictures with children at Pier Plaza.

6 p.m. sharp – Snowflake Lighting Ceremony on the Pier
The lighting of more than 83 6-foot-tall sponsored snowflakes on Huntington Beach Pier, and throughout Main Street, will be kicked off at the pier with a countdown by event grand marshals, Huntington Beach Hometown Major Leaguers Nick Pratto- Kansas City Royals, and Hagen Danner- Toronto Blue Jays just before 6 p.m. Snowflakes will light at 6 p.m. sharp, and are sponsored by groups, businesses and individuals, with proceeds in support of the Wayfinders’ Huntington Beach Youth Shelter’s emergency and therapeutic programs for youth in crisis.
